Katelyn's Follow-Up with Doctor

Katelyn had her follow-up with her doctor today regarding her knee surgery and she got the stitches taken out. Dr. Crawford was really pleased with how well she is doing! She still has some swelling and some fluid on her knee, but he said it may take a few weeks for all of that to go away. He said to just continue letting her do things she feels like doing until she's 100%. We're scheduled for physical therapy again next week, and then we'll re-evaluate and see if she needs another week. We did talk about Katelyn's right knee. Dr. Crawford said that the MRI shows that her right knee is almost identical to her left knee - she has discoid lateral meniscus in both knees. Her left knee is the one that had been giving her the most problems, but the doctor is afraid that her right knee will start bothering her in the near future. When he bends her right knee, it pops almost every time. He wants us to get her left knee completely healed and back to 100%, but then sometime after that, we'll need to think about getting her right knee fixed. We go back in 6 months to see him again - if Katelyn is having problems we'll go back earlier. But it looks like we'll be looking at having surgery on her right knee sometime in the next year or two. She is doing so well on her recovery! She has done so much better than we even imagined!!! She has not whined or complained near as much as we thought she might - she is our drama queen! But she has done so well!!!
