Saturday night the girls decided they wanted me to put their hair up in sponge rollers so that they would have curls for church on Sunday morning. Rachel lasted about 10 minutes after she went to bed, then she came in and asked me to take the rollers out! So much for curls for Rachel!!! Katelyn, however, was determined to sleep in hers. When she got up Sunday morning, I was surprised that they were all still in! When I took the sponge rollers out, I was a little surprised and HOW CURLY her hair was! Granted - I had used some of the smallest rollers on her hair, but still, I wasn't expecting it to be quite so curly! When she went to look at herself in the mirror, she said "My hair looks crazy!!" I tried to run my fingers through her hair a little bit to loosen up the curls, and then I actually tried to comb some of the tightest curls out! Here are some pictures from yesterday morning before heading to church. She'll have to say goodbye to her curls tonight though, since it's bath night!!

Basketball Pictures
Here are a few pictures from Rachel's game on Saturday. For whatever reason, the color on the pictures turn out really weird whenever I take any pictures in that gym. Oh well! Anyway, here's a picture of Rachel denying the inbound pass.
Here's a picture of Rachel running down the court to get back for defense.
I'm not too sure about this shooting form! But hey - she got off the ground!!!
Here's a video clip from Saturday's game.

Mixed Doubles Tennis Slideshow
One of my teammates from my mixed doubles tennis team put together this slideshow of pictures from our season this past year and put music to it. It goes pretty fast, but can you spot my action shots?
To capture the championship, we had to win our local league, win the Tennessee State Championship, win the Southern Sectional Championship in New Orleans (which consisted of the state champions from 9 southern states), and win the National Eastern Championships in Orlando (which consisted of the sectional champions from 8 sectional tournaments). We beat teams from Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, New York, Indiana, Maryland, and the Caribbean!

Basketball Update
Last Saturday was Rachel's 2nd week of basketball. She played very well and scored 2 points again. She had several assists and passed the ball extremely well. She passed up a few open shots and chose to pass the ball to one of her teammates! She played well defensively too! She's really enjoying playing basketball and she's doing so well! Sorry, but I didn't have my video camera or digital camera with me last week. But trust me - she did well!!!
Now today was the 3rd game. Rachel's team played a team that had a really good girl - she was a feisty little thing! But Rachel played so awesome! She scored 6 points today and played super defense!!! She had her own cheering section there today! Rachel's fans today were Beth & Donald, Mamaw & Papaw, Lloyd & Wendy, and me & Katelyn! (Robert is a fan too, but he is Rachel's coach, so I'm not sure that counts!) Hopefully, once I get the files downloaded from my cameras, I'll have some videos and/or pictures for you from today. Check back again soon!

Katelyn Can Say Her Name!!
Any of you who have heard Katelyn speak, know that she has trouble with her "k" sounds and her "hard g" sounds (as in girl). We have tried and tried to help her figure out how to say them, but still she would pronounce her name as "Tatelyn" and she would pronounce girl as "dirl." Well, just recently, she figured out how to say those sounds! We are so proud of her and she is very proud of herself too! Yesterday I got the video camera out to film her saying her sounds. It's still work for her to say them correctly, but she is doing such a great job!

Rachel singing
I was looking through some videos that I had taken of the girls in December, and I found this one of Rachel singing. This was the song that she had a solo in for the KidStuf Christmas. She was practicing one night before the Christmas program and this is the result. She gets into her singing!!!

Church Directory Picture
Our church is in the process of putting together a new directory, so we went to have our picture made week-end before last. Since we had just had our pictures made back in November by our friend, Chris, we didn't buy any pictures. But we did get a free 8x10 - here it is.

She Shoots - She Scores!!!!!
Rachel started her basketball career last Saturday! She is playing Upward Basketball at church. She's in the 1st and 2nd grade league. She's enjoying it so far! There are 4 girls on her team. Last week they played 3-on-3 since both teams had only 4 players. If they play a team with 5 players, then they'll play 4-on-4. Anyway, Rachel did well! She did a good job of staying with her man on defense. The only problem was sometimes it was like she thought she had to stay with her man on offense too!!! Below is a video of Rachel playing on Saturday. The highlights are of her forcing her man out of bounds on defense, and then dribbling up the court and scoring!! Please excuse my almost constant laughter. I forget that the video picks up my voice!! Oh well! You can mute it if you want!!! By the way, Rachel is #7 in blue and she has her hair in a ponytail.

Goodbye Bloomer
During Christmas break we had a pet! Katelyn's teacher, Ms. Jeanne, asked us if we could take the class pet home during break. Their pet is a fish named Bloomer. The kids named him Bloomer because he's blue! Anyway, we agreed to keep the fish and I was just hoping and praying that Bloomer would survive! We all were kind of funny - we'd talk to him and say stuff like "Good morning Bloomer! Are you hungry Bloomer? How ya doing Bloomer?" Katelyn said we all had to take turns feeding him. Good news - Bloomer survived his stay at our house!!! (Amanda - we don't have any good fish stories like you guys did!!!!) Monday was Katelyn's first day back to school, so we took a couple of pictures before we took Bloomer back to his home.

I DID IT!!!!
I figured it out! I was able to make my posts NOT transparent! I love how the picture at the top is transparent and you can see the palm tree thru the picture of Rachel & Katelyn. However, I was not happy with being able to see the palm tree thru everyone of my posts and pictures! So now, it's like I want it!!!! I guess it's true what they say - "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!!"
By the way, Becca, I'll email you what I did to see if that will help you!

Technical Help Needed!
Okay - so I decided to go with this cool new look for my blog. The only problem is I don't like how the posts are transparent, because it makes the pictures look weird. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm frustrated and just need to go to bed. Any ideas would be welcomed!

And Robert Makes 4
Well, Robert started his round of antibiotics today because he too has a sinus infection! Katelyn finished up her antibiotics about a week ago, and Rachel and I are almost finished with ours, and now Robert has started his 10 day round of antibiotics. Lots of doctor visits and Walgreens visits the past couple of weeks for us, but hopefully that'll be all for awhile!!!

Happy Birthday Puddin!
Last Sunday was Puddin's (Robert's mom) birthday. We headed over there after church to celebrate with most of the rest of Robert's family. Here's Rachel helping Puddin blow out her candles. It looks like Katelyn and Brittany were content to just watch.

Two Pretty Girls
Here are a few pictures of Rachel & Katelyn last Sunday before heading to church. Katelyn is sporting lots of new things - new boots, new hat, new necklace, and new Bible. I don't think Rachel is wearing anything she got for Christmas, but she just got that big girl black dress about a month ago. I think it's very pretty!
