Uppercase Living Open House

For any of you who live in this area, I'll be having an Uppercase Living Open House on February 17th. I'm working on trying to get my invitations out this week, but if you'd like to come, just let me know and I'll make sure you get one! My friend, Julie, sells this stuff and it's pretty neat! I had an open house last spring also! I've posted various pictures on my blog over the past year of Uppercase Living items I've put up around the house, but I'll post a few of those here so you don't have to go back and search through previous posts.

This is above our front door.

This is on the wall with some of our family pictures.

This expression is on a tile displayed in our kitchen.

I took the back off this frame, and put the expression directly on the glass.

This one is at my mom's house.

This expression I put on the footboard of Katelyn's bed.

These next three are in Rachel's surfin' room.

Snow Day aka Play Date!

Today we were out of school again for snow. Most of our snow here at our house has melted. I decided to take the girls to a local indoor inflatable play place. I contacted a couple of our friends to invite them to come too if they were available. Our friends Mrs. Alison, Catherine, and Virginia were able to come. We had such a fun time!!! Since most of the other area schools were in session today, we pretty much had the place to ourselves!!!! Rachel, Katelyn, and I were the first ones at the play place and had 15-20 minutes there by ourselves! Most of the time we had one entire side of the play place to ourselves! It was lots of fun, especially since we had friends there to play with! After playing hard, we had worked up an appetite and all headed to lunch at Chick-Fil-A. Thanks Alison, Catherine, and Virginia for a fun day!!!

Snow Pictures from Tuesday

We have had so much fun in the snow the past two days!!! Katelyn thinks this is a blizzard because she has never seen this much snow!!! This morning it probably snowed an inch. We were able to sled lots more today and build another snowman. The sun has come out now, though, so the snow is already melting away. Most of it will probably be gone by bedtime. Oh well, we've had 2 fun days playing in the snow. Now it's time to get back to our normal routines! Here are some pictures from today.

Snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The girls were out of school on Monday for MLK day. I had tennis at 9:00, and when I left home around 8:30, it was flurrying just a little bit - nothing major. When I finished playing tennis at 10:30 and came outside, it was snowing like crazy and all the outdoor courts were white!!! I called Robert and asked if it was snowing at home and he said it was, but it was sticking to the ground. After I got home, the temp dropped a little bit, and the ground started turning white!!! We immediately all got dressed to go outside and play in the snow!!! We don't get snow here very often, so even just a little white on the ground is something to get excited about!!! We went out and played for awhile and had a good time. Rachel & I made a snowman - it took all the snow from half the front yard to make it!!! The girls tried to sled, but there wasn't enough for them to really sled very much, so Robert would run and pull them down the hill. Our neighbors from across the street came over and played with us for a little bit. Mike wasn't feeling well, but Jill came over and Tate and Carter played with the girls.

After playing in the snow, we came in for lunch and then rested up a little bit. Katelyn had tennis yesterday afternoon, so we went to that. After we got home, Robert & the girls went back outside to play some more while I fixed supper. It had snowed more while we went to tennis, so the girls were able to sled without Robert having to pull them!

It has continued to snow, and schools were closed today. The temp is in the low 20s with a wind chill of like 12! We're going to go out and play in a little bit. It's still snowing like crazy!!! The girls are so excited!!!

Katelyn with her one ball snowman! She was adamant about making a snowman with just one snowball!!!

This is looking out our back door this morning. You can tell that it has snowed even more! We're so excited!!!

I've got a few videos to post too. Check back later for those!

Basketball Videos from Saturday

Here are some videos from Rachel's basketball game on Saturday. The first clip is of Rachel getting an assist. The second video is of Rachel dribbling down the court and scoring. The third video is of Rachel "padding" her rebound stats! I'll warn you - you'll probably want to turn your volume off since I get tickled at how many times Rachel shoots and rebounds and I seem pretty loud! Of course, Robert thinks it's hilarious!!!! Anyway, watch how everyone just stands around and watches Rachel shoot, rebound, shoot, rebound again, shoot again, etc. It's quite comical!

She Shoots, She Rebounds, She Shoots, She Rebounds, She Shoots, She Rebounds, She Shoots, She Scores!!!! (Finally!!!)

Today was the first day of games for Rachel's basketball season! She plays in the Upward league at our church. Her team is made up of 1st and 2nd grade girls. Robert is the coach, and we were a little nervous about the game this morning. 5 of the 7 girls on the team have never played before! No one is really good - Rachel does fine, but we don't have Pat Summitt knocking on our door or anything like that!!!

The girls played really well!! Five of the seven girls scored at least one goal - that's quite an accomplishment! One of the girls really surprised us (and her parents) by really going after the ball and scoring 10 points!!! Another girl who has a really hard time even getting the ball up close to the goal scored also!!! Rachel scored 4 points (and very realistically should have scored a lot more than that), played awesome defense, made some great passes, and had tons of rebounds. Of course, part of why she had so many rebounds is because she would shoot, miss, get the rebound, shoot, miss, get the rebound, etc.!!! She seems to see the floor pretty well, and had some really good passes to the girls inside. Defensively Rachel was awesome!!! Because of how Upward is set up, it's pre-determined who each girl has to guard. This is supposed to result in girls guarding someone of their equal ability. But the downside is that you can end up with a small girl having to guard a big girl. That was the case with Rachel this morning. She had to guard the tallest girl on the other team (which means the tallest girl was also guarding Rachel). Rachel didn't let it bother her at all. Rachel kept her girl from hardly ever even getting the ball! I was very proud of her play today!!!

Here are some pictures - it was Rachel's idea to wear the sweatbands - doesn't she look intimidating?!?!? Ha!Ha!

I have some video clips too, but I'll try to post those in another post.

Can You Tell What's Missing?

Katelyn has had a loose tooth for a while, but it's only been the past week or two that you could really see it wiggle. She has been wiggling it daily and asking if it was ready to come out! She has been so anxious to lose her first tooth. Yesterday (Friday) she asked me when I thought it would fall out. I told her that I thought she would lose it before she went back to school on Monday. This morning she was eating breakfast - her standard chocolate poptart. After eating that, she decided she wanted a peeled apple. On her second bite I noticed she had something in her hand and she said "Oooh Mommy - what's this? Is it part of my apple?" She wasn't quite sure what to do when I told her it was her tooth!!!! But she was excited! And it didn't even bleed much at all, so it was ready to come out! She has been walking around all day with her mouth open and her tongue poking through her new hole! She is sooooooooo happy to have lost her first tooth!!! Here are a couple of pictures. (Sorry about the chocolate poptart on her teeth in the first picture!)

This is Katelyn, the apple, and the tooth. You have to look really closely to see the tooth!

Rachel the Chef

Rachel got an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas and tonight she made dessert for us! She was so excited to make sugar cookies for all of us - Mamaw, Papaw, Lloyd, Wendy, Robert, Katelyn, and me! They actually tasted pretty good! Of course we thought it was hilarious that we had to pre-heat the oven for 15 minutes, then bake the cookie for 10 minutes, then let it cool for 10 minutes. So 35 minutes and that made one regular size cookie!!! But Rachel loved baking it - she watched the timer count down the minutes til she could cut the cookie into pieces for each of us to try.
