Yesterday was the deadline for entering the Social Studies Fair at school. Neither girl was required to enter a project, but they both decided to do one. Katelyn made an American Flag and told what the 13 stripes represent and what the 50 stars represent. Katelyn cut out all of the pieces all by herself, glued everything, and wrote all the words.
Rachel did a poster called "Florida Fun Facts." She drew the state of Florida and then posted random facts about the state all around the poster - stuff like the state bird, state nickname, state song, etc. She did it all by herself! She typed all the labels on the computer, which took a while!
The winners were announced today. I wasn't at school, but from what I understand, Katelyn didn't win anything, and Rachel won honorable mention. Tomorrow night is the Social Studies Fair awards night at the PTO meeting, so we'll get Rachel's award then. I'm proud of both girls for what a great job they did!
