Rocket Romp

Our school only has one fundraiser a year. It's called Rocket Romp. The kids get pledges to walk. The money raised is used in a variety of ways to help the school. Each teacher gets a specified amount to use in their classroom, each of the special area teachers (art, music, spanish, computer, gym, guidance, and library) get money to use for their classes, and money is used to purchase Promethean Smart Boards for the classes. The goal is to have a Promethean Board in each classroom! They just started purchasing them last year, so right now just a couple of classes per grade have them. But we're hoping to be able to purchase more this year from the Rocket Romp money! Our school gets $0 from the county for technology, so it's important that we raise the money ourselves! Our goal this year is $45,000. Hopefully, we'll get there!

Anyway, Rocket Romp is a 3k walk-a-thon to raise money for our school. This year was lots of fun! They had a DJ out in the center of the track playing music while the kids walked. A couple of times during the walk the DJ would have everyone come to the center of the track and then we'd do something silly like the Chicken Dance or the Macarena or the Cha Cha Slide. The kids seemed to really enjoy it!

I was supposed to go and walk with Katelyn's grade, and then walk with Rachel's grade. However, the night before the Rocket Romp I had some tummy trouble. I think it was a combination of eating way too much, and then playing silly stuff with Katelyn and spinning round in circles and jumping all around. Robert said I didn't need to go, so he went and walked with Katelyn and had planned to walk with Rachel. However, I got up, took a shower, ate breakfast, and was feeling fine, so I called him and told him I could come walk with Rachel so he could work. So I did get to walk with Rachel. Of course, that means I only have pictures of Rachel and her friends! Maybe I can get a picture of Katelyn from one of her friends' moms who was there too.

Here are the pictures (I edited out of the name of the school on their t-shirts).
