Rachel is Officially 7 Years Old

Today is officially Rachel's 7th birthday, although we've been celebrating it since Friday! It's so hard to believe that 7 years ago today I was in the hospital recovering from a c-section with a brand new baby girl!!! That year Labor Day was actually on Sept. 3rd, so I was in labor on Labor Day! For those of you who didn't know us then, here's a brief recap of the events leading up to Rachel's birth. It was Sunday afternoon and I was taking a nap while Robert was playing golf with some friends from church. All of a sudden I woke up and knew something had happened - my water had broke! So I called Robert and told him to come home!!! The guys were giving him a hard time trying to convince him to stay and finish the 18 holes before going home. They told him he would be a legend if he did!! He told them he would be a dead legend if he did!!!! He did the right thing and came on home and we headed to the hospital. I got checked in and hooked up to everything, but we weren't making any progress. They kept coming to check me, but still no progress. Finally Monday morning early the doctor decided that my body wasn't going to have this baby on its own - I needed some help. So they got me ready for a c-section and in just a few minutes we had a baby girl!!! We were both completely shocked to see a red-headed, blue-eyed girl! We just assumed we would have a brown-headed, brown-eyed girl. Boy, were we wrong!!! From the start, Rachel was a wonderful baby! Through the years she has grown into an intelligent, beautiful, sweet, caring, loving, wonderful 7 year old!!! I love her tremendously and am so proud to call her my daughter!!!
