This week is spring break for us and we've spent it right here at home! But overall we've had a great week!
Monday we had a playdate with some of our friends from Kindermusik and school. They have two daughters - one is in kindergarten at Rachel's school and the other one is a year younger than Katelyn. We went to their house during Christmas break, so they came to our house for Spring break! We had so much fun and the girls really played well together and got along great! It was a fun day!
Monday night Rachel started running a fever so we were afraid she was getting ready to really get sick. The end of March has always been the roughest time of the year for Rachel's allergies and asthma, so we were thinking this is it! Both girls were supposed to go spend the night with Mamaw & Papaw on Tuesday, but since Rachel had a fever, only Katelyn got to go. Rachel was a big girl about it all and only cried about it when I took her temperature Monday night and discovered she had a fever. At that point, she really cried and said "But I don't want to have a fever!" I knew she realized that she wouldn't be able to go to Mamaw & Papaw's house. But when Mamaw came to get Katelyn on Tuesday, Rachel did so good and didn't pout or cry or anything! Mamaw promised that she'd find another night for Rachel to come spend the night once she got better. So Rachel was fine with that, and actually told us that it was okay because it meant she was able to spend more time with us! How sweet!!
And by the way, Rachel's fever went away by Tuesday evening and she's been fever free since then!!!
Wednesday was spent with me & Rachel playing lots of games, reading books, etc. while Katelyn had a blast at Mamaw & Papaw's house. Wednesday night we headed to church for usual Wednesday night activities and Mamaw & Papaw & Katelyn met us there for supper.
Today we got to visit with our good friend Becca and her oldest son Eli! They drove down for the day and we played outside on the playground all afternoon. We even had a picnic outside. I think Eli would've stayed in the sandbox until it was dark if Becca would've let him! Eli, Rachel, and Katelyn had sand all over them!! I'm still not sure that I got all the sand out of the girls' hair tonight in their baths! Thanks Becca for a great visit!!! We missed you Scotty & Jonah! You'll have to come next time!! I didn't get my camera out today, so I'm counting on you Becca to send me some good pictures!! No pressure or anything!!! UPDATE: Becca posted some pictures on her blog, so check it out. Thanks Becca!
This evening we went to the farm - you can see pictures from that on another post.
Tomorrow we're having a Spring Break Party! We invited everyone from our Bible Study Class who was in town to come over to our house for a backyard cookout tomorrow afternoon/evening! The weather is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous - just perfect for a backyard gathering.
So even though we didn't go anywhere for spring break and Rachel was a little sick, it's been good hanging out here. Hope the rest of you on spring break have had an enjoyable one!
