An Unexpected Vacation

We received a phone call yesterday shortly after getting home from school that all schools in our school system would be closed today (Friday), Monday, and Tuesday due to sickness! So it looks like the girls will be getting an unexpected vacation for the next few days! And guess what they started out their vacation doing? Getting flu shots!!! Rachel has her 8 year check-up on Monday and I had planned on getting their flu shots then, but when I called this week to make sure that would be okay, they couldn't guarantee that they would have any shots still left by Monday, and their next shipment isn't supposed to arrive until the end of next week. So, since they were out of school today, I decided to take them to the Take Care Clinic in Walgreens and get their flu shots. Robert & I have both had our flu shots there, so we decided to go ahead and get the girls' shots there too. We were there for almost 2 hours because a local restaurant had brought all their employees to get flu shots. But that's okay because it's a restaurant we like to frequent, so I want their employees to be healthy!! The girls did great - Rachel didn't cry at all! She said it was because she's so used to getting allergy shots. Katelyn cried a little bit, but she sat very still while getting the shot. They were very well behaved waiting too - that's a long time to have to wait! But now we have all four had our flu shots for the year.

After lunch, Robert & I hurried outside to mow the yard before it started raining! We made it just in time! I think it's supposed to rain everyday for the next week, so I'm glad we were able to get it mowed today!

We met Mamaw & Papaw and Lloyd & Wendy for supper at Cracker Barrel for supper - YUMMY!!! Afterwards, we came home and played a new card game that Rachel got for her birthday. Mamaw & Papaw stopped by and played with us too!

After cards, it was time to get ready for bed. Both girls read for awhile before going to sleep. They really enjoy reading before bedtime - it's part of their bedtime ritual!
